[Tagdb] updating Items

hi,
I read all blog entries about tag related schemas. I have a concern now.
Let's assume we use the three table cross related schema described in
slicing and dicing part 2. When I update an Item, do I have to remove all
Item-User-Tag relations for that item and insert them one by one again? Or
is there a more optimized method for detecting changes?

BTW I plan to use comma seperated multi-word tags in my application.
